📚 ChatMemoria – User Manual

Welcome to ChatMemoria! Rediscover your WhatsApp chats, analyze your messaging habits, transcribe voice messages into text, and get surprised by a beautiful memory every day—all 100% private and offline on your device.

🚀 Getting Started: Importing Your Chat

To work, ChatMemoria needs a chat export file from WhatsApp. Don’t worry, it’s easy, and your data never leaves your phone.

1. Create Export in WhatsApp

  • Open WhatsApp and go to the chat (individual or group) you want to analyze.
  • Tap on the contact or group name at the top.
  • Scroll down to “Export Chat”.
  • Select “Attach Media” (Important if you want to analyze voice messages or see photos in “Moments”).
  • Save the resulting ZIP file to your device (“Save to Files” on iOS or your file manager on Android).

2. Import into ChatMemoria

  • Open ChatMemoria and tap the Import Icon (folder with arrow) in the top right of the dashboard or the “Start Import” button.
  • Select the ZIP file you just saved.
  • The app will now unzip your data, analyze the text, and prepare the media. This might take a moment for large chats. A progress bar will show you the status.

Note: Importing a new chat will overwrite the previous database. ChatMemoria is currently optimized to analyze one main chat at a time.

📊 The Dashboard: Your Statistics

After importing, you land on the dashboard. Here you can see fascinating facts about your chat history.

Key Metrics

  • Total Messages: How much have you written in total?
  • Avg. Response Time: Who keeps whom waiting? The app calculates how many minutes it takes on average to get a reply.
  • Most Active Person: A pie chart shows who contributes the most percentage-wise to the chat.

Detailed Analysis

  • Top Words: Your most used terms. Tap the “X” next to a word to hide it (e.g., “and”, “the”), or reset the list with the refresh icon.
  • Top Emojis: Which smileys do you use the most?
  • Activity by Time: A bar chart shows what time of day you are most active (e.g., night owls vs. early birds).
  • Weekdays: Which day of the week sees the most typing?

📤 Share Statistics

Every tile on the dashboard has a small Share Icon in the top right. Tap it to generate a stylish graphic of that statistic and send it directly to your friends.

🎙️ Audio Transcription (Speech to Text)

A highlight of ChatMemoria is the ability to turn voice messages into text. No more listening for minutes just for a quick info!

  1. Scroll to the Audio Analysis section on the dashboard or go to the “Moments” screen.
  2. The app lists found voice messages.
  3. Tap “Transcribe” (or the play symbol).
  4. First time only: The app downloads an AI model (Whisper Tiny) once.
  5. The text now appears directly under the voice message.

Privacy: The conversion happens completely offline on your phone using an integrated AI. Your voice is not sent to any server.

🕰️ Moments: Your Daily Time Travel

The “Moments” section (second tab at the bottom) is your daily flashback.

  • Do You Remember? Every day, the app shows you a random message or photo from your chat past.
  • Customize Design: Choose different frames under the image:
    • Clean: Simple and modern.
    • Polaroid: Retro look with shadows.
    • Dark: Elegant dark mode.
    • Glass: Modern frosted glass effect.
    • Vintage: Old paper style.
  • Hide Date: If a memory wasn’t pleasant, tap the “Eye” icon to ignore this date for the future.

Limit: In the free version, you have one “Moment” per day. You can unlock more by watching a short ad or upgrading to Premium.

🛡️ Privacy & Security

We take privacy seriously:

  • Offline-First: The app works without internet (except for the one-time AI model download and ads).
  • Local Data: Your chat histories, images, and audios are stored only in the protected storage area of the app on your phone.
  • No Cloud Upload: We do not upload your chats anywhere.

❓ Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q: Why don’t I see any pictures or voice messages?
A: Make sure you selected “Attach Media” when exporting in WhatsApp. Without media, the ZIP file only contains text.

Q: The import fails.
A: Check if the ZIP file was downloaded correctly to your phone. For huge chats (several GB), the phone’s memory might sometimes reach its limit. Try cleaning up the chat history in WhatsApp a bit before exporting.

Q: Can I analyze multiple chats at the same time?
A: Currently, ChatMemoria is designed to dive deep into one chat. Importing a new one replaces the old data.
